The Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Penang (MICCI) is affiliated on the National level to the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI). MAICCI is the apex body of the various state level Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and is based in Kuala Lumpur. MAICCI, in turn is a component member of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malaysia (NCCIM).
The MICCI Penang is well represented on MAICCI. The
President of MICCI Penang is the Deputy President of MAICCI. The Deputy
President & Honorary Secretary of MICCI, Penang are members of MAICCI's
Management Council.
At the State Level, the Chamber pioneered the idea of getting all the ethnic
Chambers in Penang to come together for consensus on issues affecting the
various ethnic groups Chambers of Commerce in the early 1970's. The Penang Joint
Chambers of Commerce (PJCC) was thus formalized. The PJCC now comprises of:
The Chairmanship and the Secretariat of the PJCC
rotates every two years among the Malay, Chinese, Indian and International
Chambers, and the Indian Chamber last held the Chairmanship and Secretariat from
mid 1991 to mid 1993.

The Chamber frequently holds discussions with the State and Federal Governments and is officially represented on various government and public bodies. Among these are:
The Chamber has also organized the "Pesta Little India" in conjunction with the Penang City Parade festivities as well as organized the "Deepavali Open House" for the last 11 years under the sponsorship of the State Government of Penang.
